The Smoky Mountains are beautiful all year round. Winter, spring, summer, or fall, you’ll find great events and festivals taking place all over the Smoky Mountains. Once the warmer weather settles into the area, it’s time to get out and enjoy the green, hit the trails, and see what’s in bloom. May kicks off the Gatlinburg Farmer’s Market and runs every Saturday into October! You can get an up-close look at mountain living staples, and even take some home with you.

Summer: Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a happening place in the summer. From tourists to festivals to adventures, there is a lot going on. Here are some of our favorites: Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales is a street festival that runs from June through August and has costumed performers singing, dancing, and telling stories that go all the way back to the 1800’s. If you’re looking for a great way to celebrate the 4th of July, look no further than the city of Gatlinburg, which boasts a midnight parade, a spectacular fireworks display, and a river raft regatta, all of which take place on the 4th to help America celebrate her birthday. Arts, crafts, and music lovers won’t want to miss the Craftsmen’s Fair. Over 150 booths fill the convention center and in those booths you’ll find some of the best artisans from around the country. If free live music is more your thing, you don’t want to miss the Songwriters Festival in August. The music is live, it’s free, and all the songs are originals.

Fall: While the biggest draw to the Smokies in the fall is definitely the colors and the amazing beauty of the trees, there are amazing festivals taking place that you won’t want to miss. Taste of Autumn is a flavorful and fun way to taste your way through the Smoky Mountain fare. Oktoberfest has shown up every year for the last 200 plus years and the Smoky Mountains are no exception. At Oktoberfest at Ober, the beer, music, and food will not disappoint. And to welcome in winter, there is a Chili Cook Off with the annual lighting of downtown Gatlinburg. Over 3 million lights take over downtown to welcome in the Holiday Season. And you get to taste and vote for your favorite chili from the cook off. What could be more fun?

Winter: Winter is a can’t-miss in the Smoky Mountains, it’s beautiful beyond words…..and the festivals are delightful! The Festival of Lights Parade really brings the Christmas celebration up a notch. The parade is a mile long and has lighted floats, giant balloons, Santa, and more. And if you’re looking for a great way to ring in the New Year, skip New York and head to the Smokies. You can see the New Year’s Ball Drop and see some great fireworks to go with it.
